Flat Roof Repair
There are a variety of flat roof sealing systems available, but the one we recommend and use most is Rhepanol, which is specifically designed for single ply flat roofs.
Rhepanol is a membrane that is applied to the ply wood roof, but unlike traditional flat roofing felts, it does not require any heat or hot works during installation and can be fixed over existing bituminous membranes.
This is a cost effective solution for many flat roofing problems, since installation technique is quicker than a traditional felt system and it can be installed during inclement weather, safety issues considered of course!
There are two methods of fixing the Rhepanol membrane:
The product is supplied on a roll, just like a roofing felt. It’s rolled out onto the timber or ply roof deck where the protective tape is removed from the seam.
The seam is placed over the next sheet and it’s rolled flat to create a permanent seal.
Alternatively, a self-sealing edge system can be used. This involves joining the edges of the material with a self-sealing edge.
As soon as this edge has been pressed down and rollered, the seal is water tight, without the need for any flame or heat, thus reducing the risk of fire and making it possible to install in a wider range of weather conditions.
Here are a few advantages to using this system:
- The Rhepanol membrane has a fleece backing which gives it a very high tensile strength
- It’s made of polyisobutylene (PIB) and is therefore compatible with bitumen
- Resistant to UV-radiation
- Flexible at temperatures as low as -60°C
- Application without open flame
- No need for surface protection
- Tried and tested long-term reliability, over 50 years of experience with polyisobutylene
- The oldest synthetic roofing membrane made in Germany
